The NBA started to allow teams to procure sponsors to be added to their jerseys starting in the 17/18 which was the first year of the Nike licensing deal. The sponsor patches are featured on jerseys with a 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches size. The sponsor program will run approximately 3 seasons so it's due to conclude at the end of 19/20. Apparently total revenue generated from the jersey logo sponsorship exceeded $137 million. It's been speculated that due to the increased exposure that brands have been getting the Return on Investment has been tremendous so the cost for sponsorships will only increase. There may be some complications in the next deal as Nike may not want to be associated in cross brand sponsorships. That remains to be seen as Nike continues to build a footprint in pro sports becoming the official supplier for Major League Baseball and already have a deal with the National Football League. It's only natural the NFL and MLB will research sponsor licenses for their jerseys also.....
